Nick Laurila has long made working out a given in his daily routine. “I was lucky enough to have worked in sports for 10 years so working out was just part of the day,” he says. “I was fortunate to have a gym right outside of my office and always made it a point to go!”

So, when he happened to walk Rise while on paternity leave, he wasn’t too intimidated to check out the studio. “There was a class going on so I stopped in after it was over,” says Nick.

From there Nick and owner Katelyn Kaese realized his wife and Katelyn were already friends from Lululemon. That was enough to get Nick going as a regular Riser.

We love Nick’s spirit and dedication in achieving his workout goals. “In the short-term I think it’s always good to lose a few lbs, but long-term I want to make sure I stay healthy for my kids,” he says.

Keep it up, Nick! We love having you at Rise and can’t wait to keep working out together. Congratulations on being named Riser of the Month!

What is your overall wellness mantra?

Do it for the future, and don’t take yourself too seriously

What Rise class gets you feeling the most mentally and physically amped?

I really enjoy circuits. You don’t have to think about it. It keeps you engaged and is a great workout.

What’s your biggest challenge in getting to class, and how do you combat that challenge?

Trains, you never know if you’re going to get a 5:45am freight train. I have always been an early riser so figured may as well get the most out of the day!

How do you integrate nutrition into your life each day?

Luckily, I have a 2.5 year old so making sure they eat right helps us eat right.

What’s your best tip to find balance between nutrition, fitness and life’s fun?

If you work out, it’s okay to eat ice cream … maybe not every day, but I am working on that.
